The single uniform curriculum in the Mekteb-i Mülkiye, established in 1859, has been diversified in 1913 in order to provide specialized education in different branches of political and administrative sciences. The Public Finance Division was established. In 1955 the division was renamed as the Public Finance and Economics Division. In 1983, the division is further divided into saperate departments of Public Finance and Economics. Since, the undergraduate and graduate programs in economics have been offered by the Department of Economics.
There are four subdivisions at the Department of Economics:
Economical Growth and International Economics
The Department conducts three programs: It offers B.A. degree in economics, Master's degree in economics and Ph.D. degree in economics. Great significance is attached to pluralistim in both education and research.
